Big, valuable,
and parked outside.
70 Series utes and Troopies spend their nights on farms and work sites. 200 and 300 Series wagons are six-figure vehicles with a global parts market. Both profiles are what organised theft looks for: known value, easy resale, and no one watching at 3 am. Drive's 2025 council-by-council data shows the LandCruiser topping the list in seven Victorian LGAs.
The factory immobiliser is beaten by anyone with your key, a cloned key, or a key-programming tool. A second immobiliser that is not part of the car's own electronics, hidden where nobody looks, is what actually keeps the engine off.

Four LandCruisers,
two kinds of kit.
The model matters more than the year. The checker below confirms it for your exact LandCruiser.
70 Series, all years
Ute, Troopy, wagon and cab-chassis, including the 2024 update: key start. Classic is the value pick; Alarm adds a horn response to an unauthorised start.
200 Series, 2007 to 2021
VX and Sahara use push-button start and need the One. GXL gained push-button with the 2015 update. GX and earlier GXL turn a key: Classic or Alarm.
300 Series, 2021 on
Push-button start across the range, GX included. The One is the match: press-sequence codes, per-driver codes, service mode, master code card.
100 Series and earlier
Key start throughout. Classic or Alarm fits straight in, and the install is the same reversible splice as on any other key-start Toyota.
An afternoon
behind the dash.
The unit is smaller than a deck of cards and lives hidden behind the dash. The harness is pre-made and every cable is tagged for its connection; you splice into the starter circuit and one more circuit of your choice, mount the hidden button where only you would look, and test. Most owners are done in about two hours with the diagram for their transmission and Stop/Start setup.
Not a DIY person? Authorised installers fit the One for a fixed price, car dropped off in the morning and back the same day.

My LandCruiser has a factory immobiliser. Why add another?
The factory immobiliser is keyed to your transponder. Anyone holding your key, a cloned key, or a workshop tool that programs a new key has already beaten it. StarterStopper is a second lock that is not part of the car's own system, is hidden where a thief would not look, and only you know how to disarm.
Does it work on a 300 Series with the smart key?
Yes, with the One. Classic and Alarm are for key-start cars only, which on a LandCruiser means the 70 Series, the 100 Series and earlier, and the 200 Series GX. The One was built for push-button and CAN-bus vehicles.
I keep the Troopy on the farm. Does it survive dust and vibration?
The control unit is a sealed box behind the dash, not in the engine bay or underbody. The harness is automotive-grade and the hidden button is a standard momentary switch you can mount anywhere. The hardware does not care whether the dash is in a station ute or a city wagon.
Will this upset the electronics or throw a fault code?
StarterStopper interrupts the starter circuit and one further circuit you choose (fuel or ECM). There is no CAN-bus integration and no model-specific electronics, so there is nothing for the body computer to object to. Some vehicles watch monitored circuits closely, which is exactly why push-button cars get the One. If you are unsure, run the 10-minute driveway test we email after the compatibility check before you install.
What about Stop/Start?
StarterStopper is designed to work with Stop/Start systems, but vehicle behaviour can vary. The install guide has a separate diagram for Stop/Start cars. If yours has it, mention it when you contact us and we will confirm the wiring for your model.
Can a thief just find it and bypass it?
They have to find it (smaller than a deck of cards, hidden behind the dash), recognise it, and short two specific terminals. By then they have spent more time than they would picking another car. The hidden button or code is the only thing that disarms it.
Does it drain the battery?
Classic and Alarm draw about 0.6 mA when armed, roughly the same as your factory clock. The One sits around 20 µA in standby. Vehicles parked for six weeks or more during testing did not flatten their battery.
Can I take it out again, or move it to my next car?
Yes. Pull the harness, reconnect the original wires with the butt connectors we ship for exactly this, done. No permanent modification, nothing cut that cannot be restored. Many owners move the unit to their next vehicle.
Is it covered by warranty?
Every StarterStopper carries a 2-year product warranty, with 30-day returns and free worldwide shipping. The install is reversible, so there is no permanent change to the vehicle; if you prefer not to do it yourself, an authorised installer fits it in a morning.
