Stolen with a laptop,
not a screwdriver.
When Victoria Police broke up a car-theft syndicate in 2025 and recovered 21 vehicles, a Ranger was among them, and the tools seized were two third-party key-reprogramming devices. That is how modern utes go: plug in, program a new key, drive off. The factory immobiliser is beaten because the thief now holds a valid key.
A second immobiliser that is not on the car's own key system cannot be reprogrammed away. Without the hidden button or your code, the starter stays dead, however many keys the thief has made.

Which StarterStopper
fits your Ranger.
It comes down to how the car starts. The checker below confirms it for your exact year.
PX, 2011 to 2015
Every first-generation PX Ranger turns a key. Classic is the value pick: one hidden button, no code. Alarm adds a horn response to an unauthorised start.
PX II and PX III, 2015 to 2021
Wildtrak and Raptor use push-button start (One), and XLT gained it with the 2018 update. XL and most XLS turn a key (Classic or Alarm).
Next-gen, 2022 on
XLT and above use push-button start and need the One. XL turns a key: Classic or Alarm.
An afternoon
behind the dash.
The unit is smaller than a deck of cards and lives hidden behind the dash. The harness is pre-made and every cable is tagged for its connection; you splice into the starter circuit and one more circuit of your choice, mount the hidden button where only you would look, and test. Most owners are done in about two hours with the diagram for their transmission and Stop/Start setup.
Not a DIY person? Authorised installers fit the One for a fixed price, car dropped off in the morning and back the same day.

My Ranger has a factory immobiliser. Why add another?
The factory immobiliser is keyed to your transponder. Anyone holding your key, a cloned key, or a workshop tool that programs a new key has already beaten it. StarterStopper is a second lock that is not part of the car's own system, is hidden where a thief would not look, and only you know how to disarm.
Which kit for a Wildtrak or Raptor?
The One. Both use push-button start. Classic and Alarm are for key-start Rangers: every PX, and XL and most XLS in the later generations.
Will this upset the electronics or throw a fault code?
StarterStopper interrupts the starter circuit and one further circuit you choose (fuel or ECM). There is no CAN-bus integration and no model-specific electronics, so there is nothing for the body computer to object to. Some vehicles watch monitored circuits closely, which is exactly why push-button cars get the One. If you are unsure, run the 10-minute driveway test we email after the compatibility check before you install.
What about Stop/Start?
StarterStopper is designed to work with Stop/Start systems, but vehicle behaviour can vary. The install guide has a separate diagram for Stop/Start cars. If yours has it, mention it when you contact us and we will confirm the wiring for your model.
Can a thief just find it and bypass it?
They have to find it (smaller than a deck of cards, hidden behind the dash), recognise it, and short two specific terminals. By then they have spent more time than they would picking another car. The hidden button or code is the only thing that disarms it.
Does it drain the battery?
Classic and Alarm draw about 0.6 mA when armed, roughly the same as your factory clock. The One sits around 20 µA in standby. Vehicles parked for six weeks or more during testing did not flatten their battery.
Can I take it out again, or move it to my next car?
Yes. Pull the harness, reconnect the original wires with the butt connectors we ship for exactly this, done. No permanent modification, nothing cut that cannot be restored. Many owners move the unit to their next vehicle.
Is it covered by warranty?
Every StarterStopper carries a 2-year product warranty, with 30-day returns and free worldwide shipping. The install is reversible, so there is no permanent change to the vehicle; if you prefer not to do it yourself, an authorised installer fits it in a morning.
